Named after our country's 3rd President, Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson became the county seat for Jackson Georgia in the early 1800's. What was once known as an Indian Settlement known as Thomocaggan, Jefferson was incorporated as Jeffersonville while later became Jaffersonton and again shortened to Jefferson Georgia in the mid 1800's.
