The Home Buying Process

Buyer/Seller Tips  |  Home Buying Articles and Advice

If you are considering buying a home, we can help.  Our years of Real Estate experience in the Clark County and Oconee County areas give us the knowledge to help you make an informed decision.

Look at listings
- When you're ready to look, check out Athens GA homes for sale.  You can enter as much information as you desire (less information will provide you with a lot more matches).  Example:  price range, number of bedroom(s), bath(s), lot size, and more.  You should get the complete address on each listing.  There is also a map link to show the exact location.

Request more information
-  If you find houses of interest to you, e-Mail the MLS numbers related to the particular homes and we will send you all information we have on the properties.  You can also sign up on the site to receive new listings as they come on the market.  If you have questions about this, let us know.

Set Appointment - The next phase is setting up an appointment to view chosen homes.  Usually we will show you the homes you select and add others that are similar to your listing specifications.  It can be hard to choose, especially if you do not live in the area already.

Selection - As we look at homes for sale together, we try to get an idea of what you like and what you do not like.  This helps us to make adjustments for the next appointment so you see all your options.

Once you have narrowed down your selection, we will go back to view your favorite homes again.  This usually helps you to decide which home you are ready to make an offer on.

Make an offer - We call the listing agent and get a copy of the disclosure statement.  The disclosure statement is a form in which the current homeowner has answered questions about the home including the age, heating system, roof, major repairs and renovations, leaks, and appliances the owner is planning to leave with the home.

We will provide you with tax records that show details about the home including the last sales price and current tax values.  Also, we will provide you multiple listing service sheets (MLS) on homes that have sold and are currently on the market in the area of your new home.  This information helps you to make an informed decision and feel confident that you are getting the best deal for your new home.
