The town of Bishop was officially chartered as a town in 1890. In the early 1900s, it was a bustling town with a depot, post office and several stores. There was also a bank, cotton gins, hotels, and other businesses. During the depression years, the town fielded an amateur baseball team. It was made up of the town’s male residents, which provided much entertainment for the community’s residents. Courtesy of visitoconee.com.
