Staging your home can make all the difference in getting your home sold quickly. There are two things that need to be done before anything else — declutter and clean! If you have a decluttered, clean home, it can make a huge difference. We all live with things that need to be done in our homes, to a point that we may not even notice them anymore. However, you can be sure that a potential buyer will notice repairs that need to be made. They are comparing your home with many others so it’s important to stand out as the house that is “move in ready”.
When we recently sold our home, there was a lot of work to be done! We went through every closet, cabinet, drawer and the basement, where we had been collecting stuff for years. We had so much “good” stuff but didn’t want that to be a distraction when buyers came to see the house. So, we packed a lot of boxes and left out the minimum. That allowed buyers to truly see the space and potential of our home, and to consider how they would use it as their home. After we did the work, the house was very easy to keep tidy so we could show it with very little notice.
